Green Energy, Economic Growth and Environmental Quality Nexus in Saudi Arabia

This article extends the previous studies on environmental economics literature by examining a possible relationship between economic growth, green energy, and quality. Specifically, this investigated three-way linkage renewable quality in case of Saudi Arabia using simultaneous equation modeling approach over period 1990–2016. The following are main findings obtained: (i) unidirectional causal impact growth energy consumption was found, confirming conservation hypothesis; (ii) bidirectional relationships CO2 emissions were also found; (iii) failure to close gap growing economy protecting environment Arabia; (iv) Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis supported. Policy implications discussed.
